Hungarians have high regard for the Dutch national team: ‘On paper, the Netherlands is better than Germany’
Hungary, fear and awe for the Dutch team is high in the run-up to the Nations League match next Friday. At the press conference of coach Marco Rossi, the Italian indicated that he even thinks Oranje is better than group leader Germany.
Coach Marco Rossi tres to explain why the match against the Dutch team will be a difficult one for Hungary by means of a simple analysis. “We have lost four matches in the last two years. One was against Ireland in a friendly match and the other three were twice against Germany and once against Switzerland. The latter two countries are both in the top fifteen of the UEFA rankings. The Netherlands are seventh, so you don’t have to be Einstein to notice that this will be a difficult match for us.”
Rossi sees even more danger in the Netherlands than in the Germans. “You also see in which competition the Dutch players play. On paper, the Netherlands is even stronger than Germany. I expect the Netherlands to want to dominate and have the ball as much as possible. We have to sense when we can create confusion and danger. We must not go along with their game and take unnecessary risks.”
For Coach Marco Rossi it is clear where Hungary has a chance against the Netherlands. “We have to defend with concentration and not give the Netherlands any more space in midfield. In football, the stronger team always keeps control and the majority of the ball possession. The weaker team tries to defend well and get out when the chances are there.
At those moments we have to be very effective, because that was not the case in the previous match.”
the hungarians In the Nations League campaign, the Netherlands will face Hungary (next Friday) and Germany (next Monday) in the coming days. At the moment, the Netherlands, like Germany, are on four points. Bosnia-Herzegovina and Hungary are both on one point after the first round.
